10-Minute Workouts

Life is pretty much always crazy busy. This means that when I come home from work, the last thing I want to do is workout. There are always those two choice...1. Go exercise and come home later and be sweaty and even more tired. 2. Skip the workout and get things checked off my to-do list.

Like I said earlier, I like lists. So, it's no surprise that the lists win almost every time.

Luckily, my dog Darcie doesn't like to pass on her daily runs. So I'm up and jogging first thing in the morning. Darcie and I aren't alike when it comes to running. An exhausted Darcie is a happy Darcie. An exhausted me is a cranky me.

Thanks to Pinterest, I stumbled across these gems...a website full of 10-Minute Workouts. Here are two of my favorites from POPSUGAR. There are so many different options that I can pick the routines that work for me and not repeat workouts during the week.

Check them out and get rid of the excuse that you don't have time. All it takes is 10-minutes!

Life's Like This...Ironing

Today I want to talk about ironing.

More importantly, I want to talk about how life's like ironing.

I've ironed my fair share of shirts and skirts and dresses and dress pants. (Yes, I know there is a wrinkle-free setting on the dryer, but it doesn't get all the wrinkles out.) If you've ever ironed anything, you know the following two basic facts:

1. The iron is hot.
2. It's a lot easier to iron a wrinkle in than it is to iron a wrinkle out.

When I accidentally iron a wrinkle in, it's when I'm in a rush or not really paying attention to what I'm doing. Too bad that half-a-second motion when the crease is made takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to undo. Sometimes I just don't have the time to fix my mistake, so I scramble to put on a whole new outfit.

Well, life's like ironing. When I iron a wrinkle into my life, it's when I'm in a rush or not really paying attention to what I'm doing. I get short with a loved one. I indulge a bad habit. I chose myself over others. Too bad that half-a-second action when the crease is made takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to undo. Sometimes I think I just don't have the time to fix my mistake, so I scramble to put on a smile.

But thankfully that wrinkle won't go away until I do something about it.

The wrinkles in my life aren't accidents. I make my own decisions, so there's no one to blame but myself. Thankfully, I believe that we can all iron out our wrinkles. It will take work...a LOT of work, but it's worth it.

Just remember: Decisions can seemingly ruin our lives, but there is always a way to work out the wrinkles.

The Name Game

I've been wanting to start a blog for...well, a while. The only problem was I couldn't decide on a name. They say that the name of a blog can make or break it, which doesn't help because of my commitment issues.

So, me being me, I started a list.
-businesscasual...taken
-isabellafaye...also taken
-brighteyes...gone
-lifeslikethis...no go
even iamerika was already used.

I decided on Bright-Eyed at Midnight because that's the only time of day I have to myself. Working two jobs while trying to balance a healthy life, a happy dog, and a humble household leaves me with little quiet time.

Midnight (or close to it) is when I'm able to do things that I looooove. Like writing, editing photos, reading, and just thinking. So while most adults are ready to call it a night, I'm bright-eyed and reluctant to turn off the light (unintentional rhyme).

Now I get to add blogging to my late night routine, so be sure to follow along!
